Valve Officially Announces Its New Steam Console for 2026
Valve has officially re-entered the console arena with the announcement of its next-generation Steam Machine, a compact PC–console hybrid launching globally in early 2026. Designed for living-room gaming, the new device runs SteamOS 3, supports 4K 60fps, and brings full access to the massive Steam library — a major shift in the console landscape dominated by PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo.
Powered by a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 CPU and RDNA 3 GPU, the Steam Machine packs 16GB DDR5 RAM, 512GB/2TB NVMe SSD options, and a small cube form factor that weighs just 2.6kg. Features like Wi-Fi 6E, DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0, USB-C, and microSD expansion make it both console-friendly and PC-flexible.
Valve is also introducing a brand-new Steam Controller, featuring drift-free magnetic thumbsticks, dual touchpads, gyro support, and 35+ hours of battery life. The company is extending its “Steam Deck Verified” program into a new Steam Machine Verified badge to ensure compatibility and smooth performance.
While pricing is still unannounced, industry analysts expect a $699–$999 range. With a global rollout planned across the US, Europe, UK, Japan, Korea, and more, Valve’s new console looks poised to bring PC gaming freedom directly to the TV — and shake up the traditional console ecosystem once again.
